successful completion of Finance 101 with Hair Therapy MeMBER Rufaro
You all may be familiar with the sandwich method. One negative wedged in between two positives. Starting with the positive. Hair Therapy rolled out its first offerings of courses on various topics to support women, Jan. 7th, Organization 101, Jan. 10th, Anger and Stress and Jan. 18th, Finance 101.
Finance 101 was very well received. The presentation covered statistics, a financial health check quiz and strategies for transitioning from surviving to thriving. The calls had the support of two accountants to share concepts and outlooks.

The Organization 101, session 1 held on Sat. Jan. 7th, had one attendee and experienced severe technical difficulties. It also was not recorded so the valuable information shared is not readily available.
The Finance 101, session 2 held on Sat. Jan. 21st, did have attendance but lost all participants from the Wednesday night group. Thus, deeming Saturday not a good day for HT online learning; resulting in cancellations of subsequent planned Saturday sessions (ie Organization 101, Session 2).
Anger and Stress debuted Tuesday Jan. 10th, with one attendee and session 2 held Tuesday, Jan. 17th was my first, zoom doom with zero attendees.
LESSONS:
Attendees respond well to flyers (I tried bitmoji videos, no one cared)
Attendees needed multiple reminders. The morning of and 10-15 minutes prior.
Unless its actual college anything over one day a week is too much
When zoom is dry go live (an option I thought of an did not execute due to discouragement)
Cash rules everything around us (everything is connected emotions, organization etc ultimately people are more interested in cashflow)
Don’t assume you do not need to market because people know you or attended things in the past (only Beyonce gets away with that)
SOLUTIONS:
Organization 101: The content is being converted to a presentation format and will be uploaded by Wednesday. The course was originally designed as more of a consulting and sharing style which is most impactful however the presentation is the pivot. It is not too late to get an agenda and make most of 2023.
Anger and Stress in Black Women: Intro session was recorded and has been uploaded. The course has moved to Wednesday. Wednesday’s are HTU’s official day of instruction. Anger and Stress will run through February as we explore the history of anger and stress in Black women. Following the book Going Off by Faye Childs.
